Christian Renewal Ministries is a faith-based 501(c)3 non-profit established in 1986.

Rev. James Tharp founded Christian Renewal Ministries to be an evangelical, interdenominational ministry committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to call believers back to divine conditions for revival: humility, prayer, intimacy, repentance, holiness, obedience and faith.

Humility

Relationship with Almighty God starts and ends with humility, realizing that He is God and we are not. He is holiness – the unchanging, incorruptible standard of moral perfection – while we are sinners dependent on His grace. Many of us start out in our faith in Jesus with humility and dependence, but as we study the scriptures and years fly by, we become “puffed up with pride” as the Apostle Paul writes, and self-reliant. A return to humility, spiritual poverty and dependence upon Jesus alone is where revival begins.

Intimacy

Jesus said it best: “Apart from me you can do nothing.” “I am the way, the truth and the life.” “I am the bread of life.” “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” Jesus himself often withdrew to pray, and so should we. The life of the believer depends upon ongoing intimacy with the Author of Life, Jesus.

Purity

The call to salvation and the evidence of salvation is a turning from the old life, the lusts of the flesh, and worldly patterns, and living a new, reformed life in the spirit, marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. If we are to experience revival we must live lives of purity and obedience. “Be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.” “Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”

“Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.” – Acts 3:19-20
